Digital Image Recorder

Recording the exact details of a lap or stage time can help you unlock the potential of your racing or rally car, and the RML X-Pro Digital Image Recorder (DIR) can help you do exactly that.

The DIR is a multi-channel digital image recorder capable of drawing images from up to eight cameras and handle two audio channels, making the unit one of the most powerful race recorders worldwide.

Fully network capable and using the standard TCP/IP protocol, the X-Pro DIR can be accessed using an Ethernet connection, and set-up to record video images using MPEG4 or MJPEG at up to 100 frames per second on a regular Compact Flash card.

The DIR can apply different recording rates, allowing cameras to be prioritised in the recording sequence you choose. The system can also specifically record certain pre-programmed events, for example if engine oil pressure drops below a certain pressure, the camera can be set to a higher recording rate.

X-Pro DIR features:

  • On-board/in-car digital video footage capturing up to 24 hours of coverage on one compact flash card
  • Prototype versions tested/developed on RML's MG Lola LMP2 and Saleen S7R cars throughout 2005 and 2006
  • Up to 4 cameras recording at one time at 100 fps, or as many as 8 cameras at 50 fps
  • Uses standard removable Compact Flash Card for easy transportation, access and exchange of files
