Prototype Sportscar – Le Mans and LMS
Showcasing its broad range of motorsport expertise and success at the sharp end of international racing, RML has a strong history within the sportscar arena, in particular, with the Le Mans Series and the 24 Heures Du Mans.
Since their debut in 2003 with Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos, RML has taken two back-to-back class wins in the Le Mans 24hrs - piloting the EX264 in 2005 and 2006. During the 2007 campaign, the RML MG-Lola AER EX264 took the Le Mans Series LMP2 championship with continued support from Dedicated Micros and AD Group.
The upgraded MG-Lola EX265 made it debut in 2008 and by the end of September that same year, the 265 Coupe emerged, which continues to race today. After a short partnership with Mazda engines, RML returned to the Le Mans Series and Le Mans 24 hr in 2010 with the Lola HPD LMP2 Coupe.
The move to HPD power proved succesful with the team and drivers securing the LMS Championships.
For 2011 the team moved over to the HPD ARX-01d chassis, powered by the new HPD 2.8 litre twin turbo V6. Regular drivers Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos will be joined for the year by Ben Collins.
