RML Mallock
Manufacturing

The RML Group has the capacity and technology to fabricate anything from an individual component to a complete car. We have the space and facilities to allow for low volume production runs of either RML designed projects or external client designs.

Many projects are confidential, but the roots of RML’s automotive manufacturing go back to a short run of GT40 style road cars commissioned in the early ‘90’s. This was followed by the first production run of the RML designed Saleen S7 before manufacturing was transferred to their California base.

RML Automotive is also equipped to take on the painting and fitting of body kits, engine performance improvements and chassis modifications to production cars on a flow line basis to original manufacturer standards. We have also developed an automotive electronics capability which can modify existing in-car equipment or produce a completely new solution.

These facilities allow the following activities to be carried out in-house

•    Fabrication
•    Machining
•    Bodyshell Manufacture
•    Paint/Finishing
•    Car Build
•    Electronics/Loom Manufacture
•    Assembly/Testing

Fabrication
The fabrication department can produce the majority of components required for any race, rally or automotive project from steel, aluminium and titanium. Components manufactured in-house range from jigs and fixtures to radiators, oil tanks and suspension components.

Machining
The machining department houses a range of both manual and CNC machines which are used to produce complex components and carry out close tolerance finish machining of fabricated parts. Axles, uprights, disc bells and a host of other components are machined and finished in-house.

Bodyshell Manufacture
The bodyshell department is equipped with all the necessary equipment to undertake all forms of bodyshell manufacture, modification, preparation and repair. Extensive jigs and tooling designed in-house ensures repeatability to very tight tolerances on motorsport bodyshells, prototype and concept vehicles.

Paint/Finishing
In addition to painting individual parts or fully-finished cars, RML's full-size spray/bake booth allows the application of lightweight finishes to a range of components including carbon composites.

Car Build
From a newly built bodyshell or composite chassis RML carry out all aspects of car assembly to ensure build integrity, on time and on budget. Each vehicle is subjected to a rigorous systems check and full set up prior to carrying out any development testing or delivery to a customer.

Electronics
The electronics department design and manufacture a range of products including wiring looms, harnesses and testing equipment for RML projects and independent customers. Engineers also provide test and event support for RML and customer projects managing data acquisition/analysis and engine mapping/calibration.

Sub Assembly/Testing
The sub assembly/testing department is vital to the initial assembly and ongoing maintenance of all major car components. They carry out a range of tasks including assembly, service and testing on many parts including shock absorbers, gearboxes, suspension uprights, steering racks, axles and driveshafts. The department is fully equipped and includes crack detection equipment, shock absorber dynamometers and component lifing software.
