Double victory for RML Corsas

31/08/2007

The RML-designed Opel Corsa Super 1600 car continues to hit the rallying headlines after taking two German Rally Championship victories last weekend.

The evergreen chassis, which was created by RML as part of an Opel Performance Centre Project, was driven to a one-two success last Friday (August 24) by the pairing of Tim Stebani and Ferdinand Heidlmeier, with Markus Fahrner and Michael Wenzel taking second.

Fahrner had the upper-hand on Saturday, enjoying a trouble-free run to win by 18 seconds, whilst Stebani was forced to retire on stage seven of eight.

The rounds acted as the first legs of Rallye Deutschland, part of the World Rally Championship (WRC). Leg three counted as the final results of the WRC round, with Fahrner finishing fourth in the 1600 class, 17th overall. Despite his retirement on Saturday, Stebani was able to re-enter under SupeRally rules, and finished ninth in the 1600 class, 31st overall.

Ray Mallock, Managing Director of RML, said: "I am delighted at the continued success of the Opel Corsa Super 1600 chassis, and since its debut in 2002 has proved to be an extremely competitive, respected and reliable car on rally stages across the world.

"There are more than 15 of the cars competing around the world, and we will continue to provide our dedicated support programme to our clients so they may continue to enjoy competing at the highest level in this car."
