RML LEADS THE WAY IN FIVE TOUGH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE BATTLES

12/08/2010

Following Jason Plato's return to the top of the MSA British Touring Car Championship standings with two back-to-back victories at Snetterton last weekend, RML now leads five of the ultra-competitive championships it currently competes in:

FIA WTCC: Yvan Muller sits a clean five points ahead of nearest rival, Tarquini and team-mates, Rob Huff and Alain Menu are not far behind in 4th & 5th respectively.  Chevrolet leads the Manufacturers' with 445 points to SEAT's 405.

BTCC:  Jason has stomped ahead of Neal in the British series, twenty points clear following the impressive resurgence of the Chevrolet Cruze from its seven-week break.  Team-mate, Alex MacDowall, stole the limelight too, becoming the youngest ever driver to win pole position in Saturday's qualifying session, aged just 19.

LMS:  The on-form RML Lola-HPD has secured a class win already this year at Algarve and thanks to its enviable reliability and tremendous pace, Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos have been on the podium in every race of their 2010 campaign to date.  RML lead the way in the Teams' championships with 55 points to second-placed, OAK Racing on 37.  Mike, Tommy and Andy top the Drivers' championships.

Between the three programmes, RML has amassed nine race victories to date in 2010.

With the WTCC now on their summer break, the racing continues for the LMS squad at Hungary in just under a fortnight, 21st & 22nd August along with rounds 19, 20 & 21 of the BTCC at Silverstone the same weekend.  WTCC resumes on 4th & 5th September at Oschersleben and as always, all three programmes will be aiming for the top step of the podium in each outing as they fight for championship honours.
