SILVERLINE CHEVROLET LOCK OUT SECOND ROW OF GRID AT OULTON PARK QUALIFYING

05/06/2010

A strong qualifying session for the Silverline Chevrolet duo ahead of tomorrow's three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Oulton Park looks set to offer the team a great opportunity to challenge for the podium and strengthen the team's fight for championship glory.  Jason will start from P3 and team-mate Alex, right alongside in P4.

Having set the early pace, Jason was hopeful of pole position following some crucial setup changes during the free practice sessions.  Encouraged by the progress made during the recent TOCA test at Rockingham, Jason's hope of improved handling proved fruitful as the car performed to his liking.

Jason commented, 'I'm pleased with the result, especially considering we have 36kgs more than anyone ahead of me and we know what that can cost around here – probably around four tenths.

We made some good progress with the car at Rockingham and now I have a better feeling in the car, one which works with my style of driving.  I can push and I can work with the car.  So the test has proved very useful."

And on his thoughts for the first of tomorrow's race, from the second row, Jason adds: "I can maybe make up on place in turn one.  It's going to be a tough race, but let's see what happens.  I'm always aiming for top points so let's hope for a good race tomorrow."

In the sister Cruze, Alex will start alongside his team-mate from 4th on the grid and is aiming high: "I'm happy with that.  The pace is there and the car has good balance so I think we should have a strong race.

On the first set of tyres I made a mistake in the first corner, which really cost us momentum, so that lap was aborted.  Then on the next set I caught traffic, so for the third set, it was do or die.  I had a good first sector, but then pushed too hard and lost time.  Overall it's a great result, but I know I could have been starting the first race with a clear track ahead of me, had I not lost time."

And on the strategy for tomorrow, Alex confirms, "To try and get a podium – and I'll drive my socks off!  We can definitely challenge for the podium and maybe a win."
