Tom Coronel qualifies in pole position in RML Chevy Cruze TC1 in Monza

Monza’s Autodromo Nazionale hosted round two of the WTCC with both the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 of Tom Coronel of ROAL Motorsport and Esteban Guerrieri of Campos Racing taking to the track for races three and four.
Guerrieri qualified in eight position with Coronel in 10th resulting the Chevrolets starting third and in pole position on Sunday due to the top ten reverse grid for the first race.
Poleman Coronel, who stalled on the start line and dropped to the back of the grid, spent the rest of his race recovering to finish in sixth position. Guerrieri who was defending the final podium place was unable to hold off the Honda Civic of Tiago Monteiro and the Volvo S60 Polestar of Thed Björk, crossed the line in fifth however a post-race penalty by Björk officially placed Guerrieri fourth. Tom Chilton’s Citroën C-Elysée took the top position on the board followed by Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro.
Starting out in eight for race two Guerrieri maintained his position to the chequered flag. Sébastien Loeb Racing’s John Filippi took the final points position in 10th after Coronel ran wide at the Lesmos. Pole position starter Thed Björk claimed his second WTCC victory overcoming opposition from Tiago Monteiro and Rob Huff who followed Björk in hot succession.
Guerrieri currently sits seventh in the championship with 41 points and Coronel 10th with 16 points, as the teams head to Hungaroring in Hungary for round three of the WTCC commencing on 12th May.
