RML Track Support at the BTCC

Wellingborough (UK) – 5th August 2016:

Round 16 , 17 and 18 of the BTCC proved to be a busy weekend for RML at Snetterton after a number of on track incidents red flagged both race 2 and 3, with multiple cars involved thankfully no one was injured, a testament to the strength and safety of the cars in the BTCC.

RML’s supply contract for the BTCC includes the requirement to support all rounds and official tests, providing spare parts and on track support, RML’s race support truck is present in the paddock and carries at least 5 complete car sets of spares, including front and rear sub-frames.

RML have implemented a full inventory ERP/MRP solution, based on Syteline, running remotely on the support truck, this enables stock control on event as well as automated post processing.

When a customer arrives on our truck time is vital, often the cars are being repaired between races and with three races on a Sunday every second counts.

Parts are stored in draw units on the truck with all related parts housed together, the storage location is identified in the ERP system so when a customer comes on board RML support staff can quickly identify the location and provide it quickly.

A local order is raised on the ERP system, this automatically generates a dispatch note which is printed for the customer to sign and at the same time the stock level on the truck is updated, a replenishment order raised on main stores back at the factory and an invoice created and emailed to the customer’s accounts department.

On returning to the factory the replenishment orders are loaded onto the truck and we are ready to go to the next event. In addition to RML manufactured parts the truck is also stocked with basic consumables such as PAS fluid and cable ties.

RML provide technical support during the race weekend as well as in between events, via the TOCA technical website teams have access to information including build manuals, parts and price lists as well as set up information and bulletins.

With the successful implementation of the support solution in BTCC, RML will be rolling this out to our other customer programmes, starting with the WTCC.

RML will be back out supporting our customers again this weekend in the WTCC at Rio Hondo and at the next BTCC round at Knockhill on the 13th & 14th August.
